Tournament Rules Question regarding Valkyrie/Storm Raven
When either move onto the table from reserve, do you measure from the base? or from the Hull?

Due to their Size there has been a lot of hubub on the interwebs about this.

Just wondering how you all handle it in tournaments.

RE: Tournament Rules Question regarding Valkyrie/Storm Raven
the val uses the base i am going to assume the raven will do the same as the codex itself makes mention that you use the base for several options anyways

If the codex makes special mention, then you use the base. If not, then the hull; It's still a vehicle after all.

Here at The Assault Phase we do our best to solve disagreements with violence. If you say fighting never solves anything, you're probably a pussy who was once somebody else's problem, and that problem was solved upside your ass.

RE: Tournament Rules Question regarding Valkyrie/Storm Raven
Ok, so you guys are saying that Valks and SRs thus far at PBK&W have been measured from their base for the distance they move onto the table? Such that both models (Both longer than 6") whose bases are both shorter than 6", can come into play from a table edge and will be considered having moved 6" or less..... Thus they are able to fire off all their weapons straight away?

Again, not looking to cause a fuss it's just another one of those issues that does not seem to have a clear official GW clarification.

It's still a vehicle, and as such should follow all the vehicle rules; unless there's an exception in the codex, you'll measure everything from the hull, which means for deployment, coming on the board, embarking, and disembarking (i think it does have a special rule for this, since the model's so high up) you will measure from the hull of the vehicle.

RE: Tournament Rules Question regarding Valkyrie/Storm Raven
if you go by the hull for movement then unless you turn the vehicle sideways you can never come on the board 6 inches, as its too big.. since we all know that that is shit you would use the base for that ...you use the base for disembarking and for assaulting since shooting is a from the gun type of rule yeah that model breaks conventional rules and you go with that... seems case closed end of story Smile

HAHAHAHAHAHA Official Clarification coming from a company that says this:

They deal with more of a grey area, where often there is no right and wrong answer - in a way, they are our own 'Studio House Rules'......... However, if you disagree with some answers and prefer to change them in your games and make your own house rules with your friends, that's fine. In other words, you might prefer to skip the FAQs altogether and instead always apply the good old 'roll a dice' rule whenever you meet a problematic situation.

The only problem doing it that way is that you get a different set of rules everywhere you go. we tend to follow that as it is

I agree. I hate that GW is like my Wife and I trying to decide on where to go out to eat.
"You decide."
"No, you choose."
"I'm not sure, can't you pick?"
"I'm not sure either, it depends."
"Well, I'm not sure what I want."

AGGGGGGG! Just make a damn decision GW!!!!

And the fact that there are FAQs AND Errata!!!!! OMG!!

Instead they tell the player to fall back on flipping a coin....what a great cop-out.

Damn you GW!! *Shakes Fist in the air!*

RE: Tournament Rules Question regarding Valkyrie/Storm Raven
lol couldnt agree more... try asking the wife where she wants to go to dinner for valentines...

(fyi) for you never been married or newly married people its safer to ask where she wants to go then to pick and make a bad decision in most cases
