BUT!.........

This last one, i think, calls for discussion.

BoK, has been pretty spot on with rumors for the last few years, so take that for what it is worth.

But Allies!.... seriously... i mean....seriously?!

~ Game -freaken- Changer ~ + Chaos Codex being done by a real codex writer = ?

Looks to me that GW is moving to make 40K more like 8th Ed fantasy / more fluff / story driven.
What are your thoughts guys?

Im sure the points levels for the months in 2012 are in here somewhere; but dammned if I can find em.
Can someone who visits the store alot more often than I am able, post the point values for the months?
This way I know WAAAAAY in advance what months I need to get my tounament fix somewhere else. Or you could just let me know what months are 1750 or more.... that might be easier.

I'm going to be running a Kill Zone event. Kill Zone is a fan made rules set for a more cinematic kill team type game. I actually equate it to a more Necromunda or Maulifuax style of mission play.

Basic gist:
- 3x3 table, 40 min games
- 250 point lists
- Optional upgrades to single models (like buying USR's)
- Secret secondary missions

In this game it's not just about winning the tournament. Prizes may be awarded by achieving your own missions.

The time is still being tossed around. But if you want to start planning your squad, here are the rules you can download. Post if you have any questions. PM me if you want me to look over your list for validty.
Kill Zone Rules
Specific Rules per Codex

Hint's - expect heavy terrain use on a 3x3 board. Ruin's, caves, etc. You can take a large base model, but it may not be able to physically fit in all area's. So keep a small guy if you need to dash for an objective.

Is anybody up for doing a Gladiator style tournament some time in April? It wouldn't be the last weekend in April, but probably mid month. I've always wanted to do one for fun and even found some past mission scenariors I worked out for it.

Gladiator is basically a slightly higher point game, but not quite Ard Boyz. Army lists will be 2250 points. But the reason why it's high point is that you are encouraged to bring the biggest baddest units to the field. Forgeworld and Apoc units are allowed. So you can drop some 700 points on a titan or D-Cannon weilding Eldar grav tank. Only thing not allowed are Apoc formations and stratagems.

It probably won't be a large turn out. Free entry. I may pony up some stuff for prizes. I still have a ton of stuff from the Meat Grinder that I won that's just collecting dust. This would be more for fun and friends. I'm thinking April 14th if there's space on that day.

Well, I am in quite the conundrum. I haven't gotten much 40K gaming in lately, though I will make this months tourney for once. I'm already registered and stuff for Adepticon, but I'm a bit hohum on it.

Should I go or not go?

Kind of don't want to go since I've already got so much going on in April as it is and I'm sooo rusty on my 40K. And if I go I'm probably going to have to get a cheap room at another hotel. I waited to long to register for the hotel on site.

Kind of want to go since it's the 10th anniversary and tons of free shit. Also some awesome venders there selling stuff. Like this guy
http://www.tectoniccraftstudios.com/gothic.php

Also they changed Combat Patrol rules, I'm interested to see

What is New?
2+ saves, limited psychic powers and monstrous creatures, oh my! Quantum shield, shock prowls and reinforced rams are also allowed with modifications (they can only upgrade an armor facing to maximum of 12).

What is the Same?
The maximum armor value cap of 11 on non-troop transport (12 for dedicated). 2 wound maximum on non-troops and non-swarms. No HQ requirement. No unique or special characters.

Battle Campaign

The First two out of three missions for phase one of the battle campaign will work to serve as basic “grab and stab” missions. They represent the Orks first contact with this sector of imperial space and The Imperium’s initial reaction. These small fights are quick and decisive, they are meant to be sneaky and done under the cover of night.

-Games will be played on a 4ft(4ft)
-5 turns, with a possible 6th and 7th
-First 4 turns will have the night fight special rule
-The attacking force will set up no more then 6in from their bored edge, the attacker will go first so he will also set up his army first. No stealing initiative.
-The defender will also set up but must remain no more then 6in in and must be 12in from either table edge. This represents his base. Furthermore, as long as the defender does not move his models, they are considered to be in cover(in their base) and will get a 4+ cover save, this save is lost if/when they move(it’s as if he is leaving the protection of the base).
-The defender will get 350pts and the attacker will get 400pts. This is to represent the attackers advantage and his ability to catch his opponent off guard. However the defender will have a shooting platform in the center of his “base” that has an auto cannon and heavy-flamer attached to it, he may fire one or the other each round but not both. This platform is immobile. Its stats are F11 S11 R11, WS 3.
-There will be three objectives. Two placed 24in from the front and back of the table and 16in from the right and left table sides. These 2 objectives are worth 30pts a piece for use in phase two of the campaign. Then roll 1d6 and a scatter die to find their finial-resting place. The finial objective will be placed in the center of the defenders base, this objective is worth 70pts. Tabling your opponent does not equal total points and objectives can only be held by troops.
- The defender may claim the objectives in the center of the board, but not the objective in the center of their outpost.
- If the defender DOES lose the objective in their base/ outpost then the actually will suffer -30 points to their total points in phase 2. So plan your advance wisely, because every point counts.
You may take up to 5 troop choices and 1 hq/1 elite/ 1heavy/ 1fastattack and no Special Characters.

This mission is meant to be a quick attack, to gain intel, supplies and maybe a few new shiny skulls for Da Boss. Both teams will play this mission from the perspective of the attacker and defender. Additional Points won/lost, will go into the total points available for each general for phase two.

Hey guys.

Remember the friend of mine that I was talking about who is starting to play? Well I decided a cool way to get him into the hobby and introduced to types of different units from his codex (Grey Knights) would be to run a Scenario Campaign for the two of us. The Armies that are fighting are going to be his Knights and my Orks. I thought I would post the rules of the campaign here so if anyone else would like to follow along with their own armies they could.

I will post the specifics of the battle missions for the different phases of the campaign as the missions are fought. So for now here is the outline, Let me know what you think.

I would also encourage all of you guys to try and do stuff like this. Campaigns in which you bend the rules a bit allow you to really take you hobby experience to a whole different level. The goal of this one in particular was to give each of us the feel that we are both Battle Commanders and although our resources are vast, they are limited. We are going to have to really play each mission with a long term plan in mind as each mission will effect the next. Sacrifices will be made and it will be the commander with the greatest foresight and tactics that will come out victorious.

Here you go...

Battle for the Croyidon System

In this campaign we will be playing, the lives and souls of countless imperial citizens living in the Croyidon System hang in the balance.

The coming of the beast-
Ghazghkull led an unremarkable life upon the backwater planet of Urk until he sustained a massive cranial injury from a bolter round. His life was saved by a painboy named Grotsnik, but Ghazghkull was never the same again, claiming that Gork and Mork spoke to him directly and that he was their prophet. His conviction and brute strength lent credence to his claims, and soon mighty Gargants were raised all across Urk in the name of Ghazghkull’s vision. Ghazghkull’s great whaaaaag! Has now reached the Croyidon system. A group of planets resting peacefully on the outskirts of imperial space.
These battles are the beginning of Ghazghkull’s invasion. Over the course on the following games you will either stop his invasion before it has a chance to gain the momentum it needs to overtake countless worlds. Or you will further embolden his cause and convictions, not to mention provide him with more supplies then his green hands can hold.

Missions will reflect the diversity and complexity of an intergalactic battle campaign.

This campaign will take on three phases.
1)	Initial confrontation
a.	These battles are small and less organized. They work to represent enemies catching one another off guard, striking before the other has time to properly react.
b.	Each battle will have objectives that if captured will give the capturing commander additional points to allocate in future games. There will be no force organization charts, as these battles are not organized and planned out fights. There will be no special characters allowed, as their specialties are not yet required. Each team must include at least 1 troops choice. But no more then 1 HQ, 1 Heavy, 1 Elite, or 1 fast-attack. Points values will vary, so will mission specifics.
2)	Organized assault
a.	These battles are thought out and meticulously planned. Each battle will vary in point’s cap and mission type. There will be special rules and varying battle conditions. However each battle will have 1-3 objectives that will represent salvage and will give the holding commander additional points for future games.
b.	Each battle WILL be lead by a special character. That special character will be accompanied by a special selection of units that will be mandatory when planning out what will accompany your army list for the game.
c.	There will be 7 battles taking place on the 7 worlds within the Croyidon system. So you may never use the same special character twice, being that they will be engaged in battles of their own. Also the character used will be randomly chosen prior to the battle. The remaining points may be spent on any models the commanding battle master chooses, as long as they no not exceed the force organization chart. The points for the character and his/her routine are free and do not factor into your total amount of allocatable points.
d.	During this phase both commanders will have 4,200 points to allocate across their 7 missions (+ any additional points earned in the 3 first initial confrontation games). This is to represent the limited amount of resources available and the need for a commander to exercise his ability and foresight. These points can be used and allocated however and whenever the commander chooses (the special character and his/her routine do not factor into the 4,200pts, but are taken in addition, they also do not count for purposes for the force organization chart). This will allow the competing commanders to know what special character they are fighting, but they will not know how many points the opposing commander is using (or what units he is choosing to spend his points on) for the following battle.
e.	Force organization charts are not in effect, BUT remember that only troops can hold objectives. Also, you cannot exceed the standard FOC, meaning you cannot have MORE then 3 Elite, 3Fast, 3 Heavy, etc.
f.	Special characters and their routines: When a special character dies in combat, he or she is dead (with the exception of one Grey Knight SC). If he or she dies, then they cannot be used in the finial battle/phase of the campaign. Furthermore, their accompanying routine disbands and is not included either. However if of the SC(special character) does not die, but members of their routine do, then you may spend the points to add the deceased members back in the finial phase/battle.
3)	The finial battle.
This battle will be an apocalypse sized game featuring the remaining SC’s(+their routines) +2,000 points per side. NO force organization, no Objectives, simply annihilation. 7 turns. SC will arrive to the battle field based on the round in which they were played previously (with the exception of Lord Draigo and Ghazghkul Thraka who will start the game turn 1, if they are alive). So whoever fights in round 1 (of the 7 SC games of phase 2) will start the finial battle during turn 1…if they are have not been slain previously. This is to represent the fact they have just left the previous battle and need time to arrive.
